Plimmer Steps Medical Centre is a small inner city practice located in the AMI Plaza on Lambton Quay (just next to Plimmer Steps). The Medical Centre (then called Plimmer Surgery located in the Plimmer Tower Building) was first opened in 1986 by Dr Ossi Mansoor. Dr Diane Hodges bought the practice in February 1992 and owned it until February 2013 when she sold the Practice to the current owners - Southlink Health Services. The Practice moved to our current site in March 2016 and underwent the name change to Plimmer Steps Medical Centre.
Our small team of two GP’s, three Nurses, three Receptionists and a Practice Manager provide a friendly safe environment with a focus on professional holistic patient centred care.

After initially spending my early childhood in Auckland my family relocated to the UK. NZ held a special place for me though and I returned after completing my secondary education to complete a degree in Marine Zoology at Auckland.
After some time in the job market though I decided it was people I will more interested in working with and I began medicine at St Bartholomew’s Medical College in London. Later I went on to practice medicine in various hospitals around the UK, including the Royal London, The John Radcliffe in Oxford and Truro, Cornwall.
I enjoyed Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthetics before then deciding on General Practice as my final destination. I have had some great work opportunities – in Melbourne and as a ship’s doctor, but I am loving Wellington life.
I have a young family with two children and enjoy getting out and about with them. I am a very keen All Blacks supporter and was at Ritchie’s first game in Dublin!

I began nursing in 1990, working in Paediatric medicine at Wellington Hospital specialising in Oncology. I moved to the UK in 1993 where I worked at various Hospitals as a Registered Sick Children’s and Mental Health Nurse full time, both in England and Wales until the end of 1997.
I returned to NZ with my now husband, whom I have three teenage daughters to– so my decision to enter Primary Health Care with the Island Bay Medical Centre team in 1998 was a great one. I also worked with Peninsula Medical centre team for 7 years and I have provided locum cover to various other practices which I have enjoyed.
Completing my Masters in 2019, has seen another change as I have joined the Plimmer Steps team to further develop my goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner. I love family medicine but have a special interest in Diabetes health and management of long- term conditions, having previously run nurse led clinics since 2000. I am keen on my sports enjoying for a long as I can: cycling, Masters hockey, water and snow sports and quality family time including with our dog Hugo. Loving the team at Plimmer Steps.
